Our guidelines

Your membership in DMC indicates your agreement to abide by the following guidelines. Community rules are subject to change at any time at the discretion of staff.

1. Treat each other with respect and professionalism.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, bullying, hate speech, racism, sexism, classism, xenophobia, elitism, and toxicity.

We avoid discussions about controversial topics such as politics and religion.

2. No solicitation, advertising, or self-promotion.

Solicitation is defined as sharing content with conversion intent. This includes (but is not limited to) requesting/offering jobs, lead generation, surveys, or market research.

Advertising is defined as sharing content with commercial intent. This includes (but is not limited to) selling products, services, and promoting affiliate links.

Self-promotion is defined as sharing content you created or helped create for personal gain without consent or relevance to an ongoing conversation.

3. Do not privately contact members without their consent.

Do not DM members without the DMs open role or attempt to contact them on other platforms outside of DMC.

4. Do not encourage “black hat” or “gray hat” marketing techniques.

These techniques are at best violations of the Terms of Service and at worst illegal. We don’t support either.

Our values

DMC was created for marketing professionals of all stripes and those interested in marketing to come together, learn, network, and share. Our mission is to facilitate professional growth for everyone. These values help us stay aligned with this goal.


Build genuine connections

We know what it’s like to feel isolated in a limited department or solo position. Having a community of peers and resources to lean on makes all the difference, especially when those peers are equally invested in your growth as their own.


Lead with service

We believe a great community is made of people who give more than they take. We pay it forward with our time, energy, and experience because it elevates us all. Altruistic participation is the cornerstone of everything we do.


Default to transparency

We democratize decisions as much as possible, share early and often, and strive to communicate clearly. We're committed to maintaining a culture of trust by embracing authenticity and honesty in all of our communication.


Break the mold

We prefer to embrace the unconventional when it comes to professional growth. We live for the trailblazers, the radical thinkers, the curious experimentalists, the never-say-never-ers. No goal was ever achieved by playing it safe.


Prioritize quality over quantity

We avoid using vanity metrics as any measure of success. Real value comes from the immeasurable: aha! moments, career advancement, and improved skills. We endeavor for consistent improvement knowing big wins come from small steps.
